We freely admit it...we're bookaholics! (Is that a word?)
Call it insane curiosity, nosiness, or whatever — in their
"copious spare time" (not that there's much of that
these days!), Yvonne and her staff
just can't seem to pass by a bookstore or a retail website without stopping
in to see what's the latest and greatest. Luckily, we never get bored
with the variety and selection.
Of course, not all resources are created equal. We've
read some stellar and insightful work in the field of leadership, for
instance, as well as some real dross. That's why the boss decided we needed
to start publishing reviews about our selections in order to help our friends and
clients navigate through the literary bog out there.
Here's a sample review...
The Leadership Challenge (Fourth Edition)
by Kouzes and Posner
Reviewed by Yvonne T. Ryan
There are a bazillion books on the market about leadership. However,
if you're looking for an excellent foundational primer of general leadership
concepts and techniques that can be easily adapted to technical environments, this is
a good one.
I highly recommend this resource (and the accompanying workbook and unabridged
audio book — sold separately). This enduring resource is heavily research
based and practical with just enough humor mixed in to keep the reading from being too
dry.
Here's an easy way to keep up to date on the latest and best in leadership
literature. Just one more advantage to being a member of the LECA
Technical Leadership Online Resource Center™ (TechLORC™).
