Review: The One Minute Manager (Book)

Reviewed by Yvonne T. Ryan

Okay, so this management classic is short, written in larger font, and generally (on the surface, at least) rather simplistic. However, as much as you may scoff at these factors, this is a serious book (for new and more experienced managers alike) on how to maintain productive relationships with those whom you lead. As techies, most of us want authors to "get to the point" and that's exactly what Blanchard and Johnson have done. Yes, their three major concepts are presented in the form of a story, but isn't that how we remember things more easily? So, if you don't want to make the investment in this book, check it out of the library, or better yet, go to the library and sit down for half an hour and read it. It won't be a waste of your time, IF you pay attention and put these concepts into actual practice.
