Peter Drucker has often been touted as one of the greatest
management and leadership thinkers of our time, and The
Effective Executive reinforces this claim. Granted, some of his examples
(he's fond of using historical examples to make his points) may seem
a bit out of date to some, but the essential concepts he espouses — concerning
time management, prioritization, decision-making, and achieving results —
are still very pertinent for today's leaders and managers. This book is both
lucid and insightful. Drucker's essential points are deceptively simple to
conceive, but not often easy to implement or employ. In spite of that, I recommend
this book for anyone engaged in knowledge work and critical thinking;
especially those looking for a cold dose of reality. This is a "must have"
for any leadership library.
